I am a former Army Ranger (Airborne) and Drill Sergeant. My teaching experiences are very eclectic. I served as an instructor for the U.S. Army in PLDC (now Warrior Leader Course), BNCOC, ANCOC and Combat Lifesaver programs. I was licensed as an instructor for the Texas Department of Health (EMS) and the Texas Commission of Fire Protection. I retired in 2009 from the Austin Fire Department as an EMT instructor and Structural Firefighter. I am a graduate of the Northeast Texas Police Academy. I hold an NRA instructor’s certifications in pistol, rifle, and shotgun, and, “4H” instructor in rifle, pistol, and archery. I am also an NRA certified Range Safety Officer. I became an instructor for the Texas CHL (now LTC) program in 2005.
A National Rifle Association (NRA) Instructor for over 20 years, Ellis holds NRA instructor certifications for Pistol, Shotgun, and Rifle. He has shot competitively as a member of International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), and International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICOR). In 2014, Ellis became licensed as a Texas CHL (now LTC) instructor.
